This free workshop by Tanesia White\, Recycling Educator is designed for new/beginner composters looking to get started. The class will introduce the environmental and horticultural benefits of composting and the basic principles of how to do it correctly. Then\, participants will learn about the various compost bin options and the pros and cons of each composting system. Registration is required!\n\nTanesia will be speaking virtually\, but you can choose to attend the session either online or in person at the Wallkill Public Library. Luckily\, “low-waste living” and the “Bring Your Own” movement has inspired many people to make a difference by choosing to reuse when dining or shopping on-the-go. \nJoin the UCRRA Recycling Outreach Team and Marbletown Environmental Conservation Commission and Climate Smart Task Force for an engaging presentation and discussion about the benefits of reuse as a way to prevent pollution. No exceptions. \nCommercial waste will NOT be accepted\nAccepted wastes must be generated in the registered participant’s home\, and not affiliated with any commercial business\, nonprofit\, or institution. All participants e-sign a Declaration of Residency and Non-Commercial Waste statement at the time they make their appointment. \nAppointments are REQUIRED\nA Registration Period (for each event) will open 4-6 weeks before the collection day. Appointments are required to accommodate the high number of participants and will be accepted until the maximum allowable slots are filled. Once the schedule becomes full\, the Agency will maintain a waiting list for any cancellations. We aim to accommodate as many residents as possible! If you cannot keep your appointment\, please share a courtesy of contacting us as soon as possible so that we may offer the slot to another household. \nA quantity limit will be strictly enforced\nEach household may bring up to 220 lbs. or a 25 gallon equivalent of the accepted items. No containers larger than 5 gallons will be accepted. Fluorescent bulb limit: 24 bulbs per household. The Agency reserves the right to judge the amount of waste. \nKeep items in original\, labeled containter\nIf a product is not in its original container\, or it is an unknown or unlabeled substance\, contact UCRRA 2-3 weeks before the event for further instructions. No exceptions. \nStay in your vehicle at all times\nThe designated hazardous waste unloading area is a restricted area. Authorized personnel will unload your vehicle for you and you must stay in your car at all times. \nContact us if you need to CANCEL\nPlease share the courtesy of calling us to cancel your appointment as soon as possible and no later than the Friday before the event. Only a limited number of appointment slots are available and this program is in high demand. Cancelling your appointment allows us to accommodate another household on the waiting list. \nPut all items in the trunk of your car\nPUT ALL ITEMS IN THE TRUNK OF YOUR CAR SUCH AS IN AN OPENED\, LARGE CARDBOARD BOX. This will allow us to unload your vehicle very efficiently\, and it minimizes harm from containers spilling inside your vehicle. We ask that you please package any paint products separately (such as in a separate cardboard box in the trunk of your car) from other types of chemicals. Paints will be further sorted at the event.
