Community Spotlight Blog by Allison McIntyre (Recycling Administration Assistant), Tanesia White
Interviewees: EmmaJean Taylor, Karen Miller, Pat Pellicano and Andrew McCarthy
The Recycling Outreach Team’s “Community Spotlight” initiative highlights local stories about waste-sustainability. This month UCRRA is highlighting the Kingston community fridges. There are currently 4 community fridges in Kingston. A community fridge is a free resource where community members can donate food or take what they need on a daily basis.
Allison and Tanesia spoke with four members of the Kingston community who each have a different role within the community fridges. EmmaJean, Karen, Pat and Andrew spoke about their part in the Kingston community fridges.

If you have any leftovers, put them in a container, label the ingredients and bring them to one of the free fridges in Ulster County or buy an extra item at the grocery store next time you go. Donating food not only helps out your neighbors in need but it’s also a key factor in reducing food waste!
