FREE ELECTRONICS RECYCLING

Our Free Electronics program is held every Saturday (April – November) from 8 am to 2 pm in the parking lot adjacent to the Main Office, 999 Flatbush Road, Kingston, NY 12401. An attendant is on hand to assist with heavy item unloading and to secure your electronics in a secure locked container.

YOU MUST CHECK-IN AT THE COLLECTION POINT EACH TIME YOU BRING E-WASTE. DO NOT DROP OFF AFTER HOURS. PLEASE NOTE: NO EWASTE IS COLLECTED ON HOLIDAYS.

Accepting: Televisions (Cathode Ray Tube, Non CRTs), Cable/Satellite Receivers, Digital Converter Boxes, Cellphones, Office Phones, Phone Chargers, Computers, Monitors, Laptops, Computer Peripherals (keyboards, electronic mouse/pointing devices), Small Scale Servers, Printer/Copy/Fax Machines,  Digital/Video Cameras, Radios, Digital Music Devices, VHS/DVD Players, Video Games Consoles,  GPS or Navigation Devices and all wires or cables associated with these devices.

Not Accepting: Batteries (except when part of a computer), Disassembled TVs/Computers, CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes, Freon Appliances (Air Conditioners, Dehumidifiers, Refrigerators), Gas Powered Equipment, Large/Small Kitchen Appliances (Stoves, Blenders, Fans, Coffee Makers, Toaster Ovens/Microwaves, Vacuums), Any Type of Lighting, Lightbulbs, Smoke/Carbon Detectors, Medical Devices, Typewriters, Calculators, Cash Registers, Thermostats, Motor Vehicle Parts, and Industrial/Commercial Electronic Units.

Instructions

  • The accepted items listed above describe what is considered eligible devices under the NYS Electronics Recycling Act. Do not bring the unaccepted items listed above, which many not be a complete list. Contact the Recycling Hotline with any questions (845) 336-3336 if you have any questions about eligible items.
  • If you have a large quantity of e-waste, please contact us at (845) 336-0600; Mon.-Fri. 7:30am-3:30pm to schedule an appointment.
  • Box-up small items for easy drop-off.
  • Be careful not to break any glass during transport. Devices with shattered glass, disassembled components, etc. may not be accepted.
  • Check-in with Agency staff each time you deliver electronics.
  • PLEASE DO NOT DROP OFF AFTER-HOURS OR ON HOLIDAYS OR FAIL TO CHECK IN WITH STAFF.

Other Options

Donate
If items are in good, usable condition, consider donating them to a charitable organization (Salvation Army, thrift stores, etc.). Contact the organization for a list of accepted items.

Repair
Fix broken items for free at local Repair Cafes. Visit Hudson Valley Repair Cafe for more information.

Recycle
Some retail outlets that sell electronics also accept them for recycling (Staples, etc.). Retail stores provide residents with more options; they are often open late and on weekends. Please note: fees may apply at retail outlets.

Electronics may be accepted at your local town transfer station. Please note: accepted items and hours of operation may vary. Contact the transfer station directly. Fees may apply at town transfer stations.

UCRRA sends all electronic equipment for recycling to ERI.
