Upcycled Art for Teens: Oceans of Possibilities!
Wednesday, July 27th 2022
1:00 PM – 2:30 PM
Ellenville Public Library
Upcycling is a creative and fun way to reimagine unwanted items and turn our waste into new, useful items or works of art! Not everything can be recycled, but we can give new life to old items by reusing and upcycling them. The class will be hosted at the Library and facilitated by the UCRRA Recycling Outreach Team, celebrating the library’s Summer Reading Program Series with the focus on Oceans of Possibilities.
Participants in this class will learn about the impact of plastic pollution on our oceans and wildlife, and will create works of upcycled art from some common plastic objects. Join UCRRA in celebrating Plastic Free July and make sea creatures out of plastic! All craft materials will be provided. Parental supervision is recommended. This FREE hands on workshop is open for recommended ages 12-18.
TO SIGN UP: Class size is limited. Please RSVP online at the link below.
We’re Celebrating Plastic Free July!
About Plastic Free July: Plastic Free July® is a key initiative of the Plastic Free Foundation that allows communities everywhere to work towards a vision of seeing a world free of plastic waste. From humble beginnings in 2011, the award-winning Plastic Free July campaign is the result of years of hard work. How long could you go without using any new plastic? Take the Pledge! Learn more about Plastic Free July and what you can do to help reduce plastic pollution.
About the Plastic Free Foundation: The Plastic Free Foundation Ltd was restructured in 2017 as an independent, not-for-profit charity to better support participants and grow the campaign. The mission of the Plastic Free Foundation is guided and informed by core values including the belief that small changes add up to make a big difference. It was started by Rebecca Prince-Ruiz (the founder of the Plastic Free Foundation) and a small team in local government in Western Australia, and is now one of the most influential environmental campaigns in the world. Millions of people across the globe take part every year, with many committing to reducing plastic pollution far beyond the month of July.
