Seal of Testing Assurance Certified Compost

UCRRA is a proud member of the United States Composting Council, and our Grow Ulster Green compost product is an STA certified compost. The STA program is a compost testing, labeling, and information disclosure program and is regarded as “the consensus of many of the leading compost research scientists in the United States” (USCC, 2019). The Agency’s finished compost is sampled and tested four times per year at a certified agronomy laboratory. Compost Technical Data Sheets are available, accessible in the online database below.

“Our compost has been sampled and tested as required by the STA certified compost program of the US Composting Council. The US Composting Council makes no warranties regarding this product or it contents, quality, and suitability for any particular use.”

Compost use and selection decisions involve many factors and are not one size fits all. The Seal of Testing Assurance Program helps you make the best decision for your application, by abiding to the USCC’s guiding principles:

Consistency. The STA Program provides checks and balances within the Lab and Participant network to ensure proficiency and consistency with testing procedures and compliance, providing apples to apples comparisons of compost properties.

Confidence. Similar to trusting a vehicle history report when purchasing a vehicle, the STA’s CTDS report provides consumers with confidence and knowledge of what is in the compost and how it was produced.

Clarity. Similar to a nutrition label, the STA Program’s Compost Technical Data Sheet (CTDS) includes test results, a list of ingredients, and recommended directions for use.
