Mohonk Preserve – Testimonial Gateway Trailhead

Join Mohonk Preserve staff and local organizations to learn about climate solutions that can be practiced at home. Free admission during the event at this trailhead only. This event is part of Hudson Valley Climate Solutions Week, featuring fun activities for the whole family, including:

  • Kids Pollinators and Seedball Craft Station with Preserve Educators
  • Phenology Data History and Future Station with Preserve Educators
  • DIY Composting Station with Community Compost Company
  • Composting for Kids and Recycling Bingo with Ulster County Resource Recovery Agency
  • Carbon and Trees and The Incredible Carbon Journey with Preserve Educators
  • And many more local organizations TBD!

Visit the UCRRA Outreach Booth to ask the experts and learn more about waste reduction, local recycling and composting programs, and more! Festival goers can play our recycling Trivia Game to win a free prize! Other activities at our booth include:

Composting for Kids, 11:00 – 11:30 AM :
Participants will gain knowledge of what can be composted, how it works, and why it is beneficial to the environment. Afterwards, an interactive Composting Sorting Game will be played to test their understanding! Sign up here: www.mohonkpreserve.org/events/composting-for-kids/
Recycling Bingo for Kids, 1:00 – 1:30 PM :
Recycling Bingo is a fun game for all ages! Participants will learn facts about recycling, composting and rethinking waste. Prizes will be provided for winners. Sign up here: www.mohonkpreserve.org/events/recycling-bingo-for-kids/

We hope to see you there! To get to the Testimonial Gateway Trailhead, take the New Paltz exit 18 off of the NYS Thruway. Go west on Route 299 (through New Paltz) for three miles. The Testimonial Gateway Trailhead entrance will be on your right.
