INSTRUCTIONS

DO NOT put bicycles or bike parts in the recycling bin.

If your bike is still in good condition try donating it to a reuse organization or share on your social media pages to give away.

If the bike needs to be repaired, contact a bike repair shop

Alternatively, bicycles can be recycled at a scrap metal recycling facility.

Electric Bikes (e-bikes):

E-Bikes contain rechargeable lithium-ion batteries that require proper recycling and should never be put in the garbage or the recycling bin.

The improper disposal of rechargeable batteries leads to injuries, fires, and explosions in solid waste facilities. PLEASE DO NOT put batteries in the recycling bin. While UCRRA does NOT accept rechargeable batteries, there are ample opportunities to drop off used rechargeable batteries as described below.

Thanks to organizations such as Call2Recycle and People For Bikes there is a local option for e-bike battery recycling with Bicycle Depot in New Paltz, NY. Please call to verify if your e-bike is a participating brand, (845) 255-3859
