INSTRUCTIONS

Cups, plates, straws, forks, or other food service packaging marked as “compostable” or “biodegradable” are NOT conventionally recyclable and should NOT be placed in the recycling bin with other bottles, cans, paper, etc.

Compostable packaging is generally NOT processable in backyard composting systems and should not be composted at home, unless the composter is advanced, the compost pile is big and well managed, AND the product is an uncoated certified compostable paper product. However, even in these circumstances, some “compostable” products may not fully break down or they may leach chemicals into the compost pile.

UCRRA accepts food scraps from commercial customers only; no residential drop off. Our partners must enroll in our composting service and the use of any compostable products must be expressly approved by UCRRA. Special criteria apply.
