INSTRUCTIONS

These instructions pertain to small, non-Freon kitchen or household appliances. 

Small household appliances are generally NOT accepted in UCRRA’s electronics recycling program, because many of these items (including microwaves, coffee makers, blenders, vacuum cleaners, etc.) are NOT covered products under the NYS Electronics Recycling Act. 

UCRRA DOES accept small home appliances for disposal, but please note that other options may be available. Refer to the other options listed below.

OTHER OPTIONS

If you have appliances that are in a good, usable condition, consider donating it to a local charitable organization. Many organizations will come pick up bulky items for free! Visit our webpage to find a local reuse organization. 

Some small kitchen appliances, like a microwave oven or a toaster, contain a lot of metal components that may be recoverable as scrap metal. Local scrap metal recycling facilities include West Kingston Recycling in Kingston (845) 331-3312, CANOS Recycling in Saugerties (845) 331-7600 and A. Messina & Sons Scrap Metal Recycling in Gardiner (845) 883-6543. Contact them directly for more information.
