INSTRUCTIONS

Never pour medications down the drain or put in the trash. DO NOT put medication bottles in the recycling bin, even if the bottles are empty. UCRRA can NOT accept pharmaceuticals, medications, or controlled substances under any circumstances. These items are NOT accepted at our household hazardous waste collection program and may require special disposal.

There are many free, anonymous, safe disposal options in your community. Call ahead before dropping off to ask about accepted items. Most sites will accept solid medications (pills) but acceptance of liquids (medical creams, ointments) or gases/vapor products (inhalers) may vary by each site. Items not accepted should be discarded in the trash.

Additionally, you may contact your local police station, SUNY Ulster or SUNY New Paltz for year round disposal that is also free and anonymous.  Please click here for list of Law Enforcement Drop Off Sites for medications.
