Refrigerators and freezers are Freon appliances; they contain refrigerant chemicals such as chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs), and halons, which are harmful to the ozone layer and are very powerful GHG. UCRRA accepts Freon appliances, but please note other recycling options exist. If brought to UCRRA, our minimum load fee and a Freon Appliance charge will apply. Click here for UCRRA’s Fee Schedule.

If you have an old, working refrigerator or freezer contact Central Hudson at 866-706-3995 regarding their ‘Refrigerator and Freezer Recycling’ program.
