INSTRUCTIONS
Solar panels contain silver, copper, lead, arsenic, cadmium and selenium. When managed improperly, there is potential for these heavy metals or other toxic chemicals to leach into the environment. Contact the manufacturer of your solar panels to see if they offer a take-back program for recycling, decommissioning, or refurbishing old panels. If the company or manufacturer does not offer this service, you can reference a list of SolarPanel Recyclers provided by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
New state regulations are under consideration that would greatly improve the end of life management of solar panels in NYS. Learn more here.
Contact: Contact the company that installed the photovoltaic array, or the manufacturer of the photovoltaic modules, or refer to the list linked above.
