Please note: All donations of used goods should be in like-new or gently used condition to the greatest extent. Accepted items are subject to approval by the various charitable organizations or programs listed on this page. Please contact these organizations directly with all inquiries or to verify the acceptance of items.

Specific to Home Improvement, Accepted Items include:

  • Appliances (10 years old or newer, in good working order)
  • Cabinets & Countertops (Solid wood fronts with all drawers and doors)
  • Doors (Except shower & hollow core w/o jamb)
  • Flooring Unused (minimum 100 sq ft) linoleum or tile
  • Hardware New in original packages – all types (please no used goods)
  • Lighting and Electrical Light fixtures, (new electrical supplies)
  • Lumber & Siding (Bulk)
  • Sinks & Fixtures (New only)
  • Roofing Asphalt, wood metal, tar paper (Minimum 100 sq ft)
  • Tools & Equipment (In good working order with all parts)
  • HVAC Bathroom fans and vents (New only)
  • Lawn & Garden Tools, fencing, bricks and pavers
  • Windows Double-pane vinyl (No wood!) undamaged, unfogged, and in working order)

*If you have a large item that you cannot bring to the Restore, they may be able to pick up your items for free. To schedule pick-up of oversized items, call 845-340-0907, or email your full name, address, contact phone number, and photos of the items you wish to donate to: donations@ulsterhabitat.org

  • Carpeting (unused)
  • Electrical supplies (electrical boxes that encase outlets, switch plates, outlet plates, endcaps for wires)
  • Flooring, tiles, etc. (unused scraps or extra pieces of tonged/groove, laminate, wood, etc.)
  • Hardware (unused nails, screws, bolts)
  • Lumber, plywood, and molding scraps (like new or gently used)
  • Plumbing supplies (like new or gently used hardware, PVS piping, faucets, etc.)

Reuse Paint – Paint Care New York

Did you know? You don’t have to wait for an HHW event to safely dispose of unwanted paint – thanks to Paint Care NY!

Paint disposal is more convenient than ever before, thanks to the New York State Paint Stewardship Law (enacted December 16th 2019, effective May 1st 2022). Free paint recycling is available at participating drop off locations. We encourage residents to utilize these sites for easy, free paint disposal.

Restrictions: Sites vary on accepted limit 5-10 gallons per visit.

Note: These sites accept latex and oil-based house paint, stains and varnish in containers up to 5 gallons in size. These sites do not accept aerosols (spray paint or other spray products), containers without original labels, or containers that are leaking or empty.
